BENEFITS OF FILEMAKER
Centralised FileMaker system!
The FileMaker platform provides a secure system to log shift, incident and patient data for all members of the charity. In the effort to always improve efficiency, key medical data is reported upon ensuring DSAA always operates to the highest standard.
WebDirect access from any device!
Data for the crew needs to be accessible at any point of the day and from anywhere. With the power of FileMaker WebDirect, users are able to log into the system from any device. Whether that’s a desktop, tablet or mobile phone.
Online crew training portfolio!
In addition to recording air ambulance incident data, the system also serves as a paperless training portfolio to medical personnel looking to join the air ambulance crew. Assessments are logged onto the system, checked by assessors and signed off by supervisors.
THE STORY SO FAR
Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance were using a combination of paper and google documents to manage their shift rotas, incident details and patient treatment details before Smart Wolf were engaged to develop a custom FileMaker system. The new system, PHEMnet (Pre-hospital emergency medicine), would act as a secure online portal for the logging of all medical information relating to the incidents that the crew attended.
With the help of doctors and consultants working with the air ambulance, Smart Wolf were able to design and develop a robust platform for crew members to record data. The ability to report of incidents and patient treatments was a big part of the project, giving crew members access to key data quickly for on-going performance reviews.
The system has since been further developed to serve as an online portfolio and training platform for individuals aspiring to complete their medical training. All records of assessments, reflections and reviews are held in FileMaker allowing trainees to work through the curriculum and enabling assessors to supervise them.
The system is available via WebDirect granting access from any device with a web browser, as well as through FileMaker Pro for desktops and FileMaker Go for iOS devices such as iPads and iPhones. With over 50 users, crew members and trainees are able to log on and record/report on data from anywhere giving great flexibility to the platform.
Smart Wolf are currently contracted to support the system and continue development to improve the processes of the air ambulance.
